Representing Stanford Investors

Update - March 12, 2009 Hearing

Martin & Drought, P.C. is a San Antonio and McAllen based international law firm with decades of experience representing Mexican companies and individuals in their business and litigation in the United States.  As part of its litigation practice, Martin & Drought specializes in representing Mexican investors in offshore and domestic investment fraud litigation.

Martin & Drought successfully represented the InverWorld investors in various class actions arising out of the InverWorld offshore investment fraud, including class actions against Credit Commercial de France, S.A., the audit firm Deloitte & Touche, and InverWorld’s law firm Curtis Mallet-Prevost.  Martin & Drought also represented Mexican investors in lawsuits against various firms arising from those firms’ involvement in offshore investment fraud perpetrated by the InterAmericas group of investment companies run by Hugo Pimienta in Houston, Texas.  Martin & Drought also represented Sharp Capital investors in litigation against Credit Commercial de France, S.A. and Gardere Wynn.  Additionally, in the Sharp Capital case Martin & Drought worked with the Special Master, Ralph Janvey, to pursue investor claims against the law firm Thompson & Knight, LLP.  Ralph Janvey was appointed by the Court as the Receiver for Stanford International Bank, Ltd.

As demonstrated above, Martin & Drought has experience in representing Mexican investors in investor fraud and class action litigation.  Martin & Drought has been involved as class counsel in cases involving investor and insurance fraud, including representing Mexican investors in individual and class action lawsuits against MetLife, CrownLife and John Hancock.  Martin & Drought has affiliate offices in Mexico City, Reynosa and Monterrey and has a group of Mexican corporate lawyers on its staff, making Martin & Drought intimately familiar with Mexico and Mexican business and legal issues.

Martin & Drought is representing Stanford investors with respect to the ongoing civil SEC receivership proceeding, and will investigate and initiate litigation against any responsible third parties that may have liability for the Stanford fraud.
